Client Charged With Assault
The Facts:
Client was charged with the assault of her daughter, a minor. Although the client did not have any prior criminal record, the Vancouver Crown initially refused to revisit charge approval and refused to make any amendments to conditions barring the client from returning to her home or having any contact with her daughter.
Jasmin Singh gradually persuaded Crown to agree to amending the conditions, on several occasions, ultimately allowing the client to return to the family home with permissive contact with her daughter. She advised the client on rehabilitative steps to take and ultimately prepared a resolution package to Crown, asking to revisit charge approval.
The Result:
The Crown entered a Stay of Proceedings.
